Hathern Concert Brass is a non-contesting band comprising players who have graduated from the youth band, players who have retired from the main Hathern Band, and players who simply want to make good quality music in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30pm at the bandroom on Pasture Lane, Hathern (click for map).
Our Musical Director
Originally a bass trombonist, Andrea began her brass band career with Amington ‘B’ Band and quickly progressed to the then 1st Section ‘A’ Band. After graduating with a degree in Music and Educational Studies at Keele University, she completed teacher training at UCE in Birmingham. For the next four years she took over as Musical Director for Melbourne Town Band.
She made her return to playing with the Hathern Band on principal trombone, before starting a short spell as Musical Director for The Melton Band. Andrea was delighted to take on the role as Musical Director for Hathern Concert Brass in February 2010.
Andrea is currently Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts in a secondary school.
