The Youth Band

Hathern Youth Band is for players graduating from the Training Band. Under the baton of David Newman, the band plays both popular modern pieces and old classics, all with the aim of improving musicianship and having fun. Many of our youth band players progress to the main Hathern Band or Hathern Concert Brass. For those who move away from the area to go to university, we help find a band to continue their music making.

Hathern Youth Band meets from 7:15 to 8:45pm on Monday evenings.

The Training Band

Instruments, music and tuition are provided free of charge to young people wishing to learn to play brass or percussion instruments. Absolute beginners start with one-to-one tuition, then progress through to the Training Band. The band is directed by David Newman with players from the main Hathern Band assisting with tuition. Parents are welcome to accompany their children.

The Training Band play at the family service at Hathern Church on the first Sunday in February and September.

Hathern Training Band meets from 6:00 to 7:00pm on Monday evenings.

Each player is asked to pay a nominal annual subscription to help with the running costs of the bands.
